One of the most ambitious projects in recent times, NYX is another attempt at a successful franchise coming from cultured Europe to grasp London's very judgmental attention. Similar attempts at this stunt have included Lio London, Opium, and IT, none of which are still open today...

NYX has impressed. Having opened its doors in late 2023, it has well and truly made an impact on the Mayfair crowd. Its ballsy attempt to open every night meets with some lonely occasions; however, there is no doubt it has given their house music competitors something to think about.

NYX is not the first club / members lounge situated underneath a restaurant to appear in the streets of Mayfair. NYX is not the first club / members lounge situated underneath a restaurant to appear in the streets of Mayfair. Amazonico's lounge was one of the hottest spots to be seen in during COVID. Apollo's Muse was possibly the most grand room to have ever held a rave in London. However, none has lasted the test of time. NYX is hoping to change that, and they have certainly got themselves off on the right foot.

The floor plan is exactly what complements London's current needs: a small, intimate space that is not hard to fill with energy whilst at the same time, tables are spaced in a way that offers comfort yet social opportunity. The room is flexible and can be limited to just the bar and lounge area or extended to the back where more tables are located. The lighting is sexy and luxurious, with a note of "Raspoutine" hinted at in the red velvet textures. It is without a doubt an extremely comfortable room, which avoids feeling seedy. Whilst you can feel the insinuation of soft textures and red lighting, it does not make a group of male friends uncomfortable - a crucial balance they have nailed.

It is now common knowledge to expect crowd-drawing DJ names to NYX with Guy Gerber taking the stage post-Valentine’s Day, Jimi Jules taking up the decks in November, and even a special set from Âme to celebrate the 1st anniversary in December. These DJs are alluring a clientele base that has been neglected in recent years in London. Whilst usually a trip to Mykonos would be in store to see a name like Jimi Jules, NYX is breaking the norm and making it a frequent occasion.

As for the drinks, every bar is only as good as its bartenders, and I can confidently say that NYX has some of the best. Their staff are as knowledgeable and impressive as you would imagine, but their warmth is what sets them apart from the competition. A really nice touch is to see bottles of Clase Azul & 1942 with speed pourers on; one can only imagine how many bottles they go through in order to feel the need for those.
